STF Raid in Assam Yields Significant Drug Haul: Three Apprehended
Guwahati, April 10, 2024: In a meticulously planned operation, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam executed a raid at Rupkonwar Path, situated within the jurisdiction of Basistha Police Station, on the afternoon of April 9th. The targeted operation resulted in the apprehension of three individuals suspected of involvement in illicit drug trafficking.
The arrested individuals have been identified as follows: Suman Talukdar (32), a resident of Digboi Town; Audulomi Goyari (35), hailing from Dimakuchi; and Nersing Basumatary (57), residing in Silapathar. The raid, conducted with precision, led to the seizure of a significant cache of illicit substances and other pertinent items.
During the operation, the STF recovered a plastic packet containing approximately one kilogram of suspected pure heroin. The estimated market value of this seized contraband is a staggering Rs 10 crore. In addition to the narcotics, three mobile phones were also seized, alongside undisclosed supplementary items which are currently under examination.
Necessary legal formalities are presently in progress, as authorities move swiftly to ensure due process in handling the case. The apprehended individuals are being charged under the stringent provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, reflecting the severity of the alleged offenses.
