Desk Report, April 11, 2024: Eid-ul-Fitr, the “Holiday of Breaking the Fast,” was celebrated with traditional excitement across Assam on Thursday. Muslims met in mosques and Eidgahs to pray.

This special day comes after Ramadan, a holy month when Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset.

In places like Dhubri, Kamrup, Nagaon, Cachar and various districts of Assam many people gathered to pray the special Eid-ul-Fitr prayers, called Salat al-Eid. These prayers have two parts and everyone prays together. After the prayers, people wished for peace, happiness, and good health for everyone.

Eid-ul-Fitr is an important celebration for Muslims worldwide. It marks the end of a month of fasting, spiritual thinking, and being more devoted to their faith.

In Assam, Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with greetings, gifts, and tasty Eid foods. These special foods are made to share with family and friends to make the celebration even more joyful.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his Eid-ul-Fitr wishes on ‘X’ social media platform, saying, “Best wishes on Eid-ul-Fitr. I hope this time brings more kindness, togetherness, and peace. I wish everyone happiness and health. Eid Mubarak!”.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, also shared his wishes on ‘X’ social media platform, saying, “Greetings on Eid-ul-Fitr! I hope this special time brings peace and harmony to everyone and makes everyone healthy and happy. Eid Mubarak.”
