Arvind Kejriwal’s Lawyer Counters Enforcement Directorate’s Claims Regarding Diet
Desk Report, April 19, 2024: In the latest development surrounding the ongoing legal saga involving Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his legal counsel, Vivek Jain, has vehemently refuted allegations made by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) concerning Kejriwal’s dietary choices while in judicial custody at Tihar jail.
The ED had levied accusations against Kejriwal, asserting that he had intentionally manipulated his diet, including the consumption of items such as mangoes, sweets, and sugar, purportedly to influence his blood sugar levels for bail purposes. However, Jain has swiftly dismissed these claims, contending that Kejriwal is strictly adhering to a doctor-prescribed diet regimen.
Kejriwal, who finds himself in judicial custody as a result of a money laundering case, has taken proactive steps to address the situation. His legal team has filed an application in court seeking continuous monitoring of his sugar levels and permission to consult with his doctor while in confinement. The court, in response, has requested a comprehensive medical report detailing Kejriwal’s dietary requirements, thereby postponing further proceedings.
