Balajan Police Seize Drugs Worth Thousands, Arrest Trafficker
Agomani, April 21, 2024: In a significant crackdown on illegal drug trafficking, Police authorities in Balajan, Golakganj, have made a substantial seizure of intoxicating tablets and cough syrups. The operation resulted in the arrest of a suspected trafficker, identified as Bapan Sarkar, hailing from Bidyapara in Dhubri.
The enforcement action unfolded as Balajan police conducted thorough searches on buses commuting from Coochbehar to Dhubri. It was during one of these searches that Bapan Sarkar was apprehended from a bus. Subsequent investigation led to the discovery of a cache comprising 3381 intoxicating tablets and 85 bottles of cough syrup in Sarkar’s possession. In addition to the illicit substances, authorities also seized a sum of Rs 3390 in cash from the arrested individual.
Bapan Sarkar’s apprehension and the subsequent seizure mark a significant milestone in the ongoing battle against narcotics trade in the region. The authorities remain steadfast in their commitment to upholding law and order, ensuring the safety and well-being of the community at large.
