Anti-Corruption Operation in Assam: Gaon Pradhan and Lot Mandal Apprehended in Bribery Sting
Nagarbera, April 22, 2024: In a significant development in the ongoing efforts to combat corruption, a team from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam, has successfully apprehended Hazarat Ali, the Gaon Pradhan of Khameri Gaon, and Anup Kr. Choudhury, Lot Mandal of the office of the Nagarbera Revenue Circle, District Kamrup.
The operation unfolded at the office of the Nagarbera Revenue Circle, District Kamrup, where Hazarat Ali was caught red-handed accepting a bribe. This illicit transaction, perpetrated in collaboration with Anup Kr. Choudhury, Lot Mandal, was aimed at facilitating namjari related works.
Anup Kr. Choudhury, Lot Mandal, was also apprehended during the same operation for his complicity in demanding and subsequently receiving bribes through the Gaon Pradhan. Both individuals have been formally charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
