Threatening Emails Prompt Evacuation of Schools Across Delhi-NCR
Desk Report, May 01, 2024: Today morning, several schools in Delhi-NCR region including Delhi Public School, Amity and Mother Mary’s have received threatening emails regarding possible bomb attacks. Therefore these schools are being evacuated immediately as a precaution while the Delhi Police has started carrying out searches in the campuses.
To counter these threats, specialized units like bomb detection teams along with personnel from Delhi Fire Service have been deployed by Delhi Police for conducting extensive search operations ensuring safety of students and staffs. Schools under targeted radar are DPS Dwarka, Mother Mary’s Mayur Vihar, Amity Saket and Pushp Vihar campuses among others including DPS Noida, Vasant Kunj, RK Puram and Sanskriti Schools.
As per initial investigation reports there is an identifiable recurring pattern in multiple threat emails without any specific deadlines or blind carbon copy (BCC) recipients which indicates mass mailing. Origin and authenticity of these threats are under active investigation by the Delhi Police.
Because of this, schools such as DPS Noida and Amity Pushp Vihar have given out statements telling parents what’s happening and asking them to get their children from school immediately. Such educational institutions will be closed indefinitely until the situation normalizes as a safety measure for everyone involved with them.
