Money Lender Apprehended in Hailakandi Police Operation
Silchar, May 06, 2024: In a recent development, Hailakandi Police responded promptly to a written complaint, prompting a swift action led by the ASP, Crime, accompanied by the Officer in Charge of Lala Police Station and the In-Charge of Abdullahpur Patrol Post. Their concerted effort resulted in the apprehension of an illegal money lender, identified as Tapan Nath of Sarbanandapur, Hailakandi.
Upon conducting a thorough search of the accused’s residence, Police officials uncovered a significant sum of cash totaling Rs. 51,29,900, along with several incriminating articles. These included three ATM cards, six cheque slips, two passbooks from State Bank of India (SBI) and United Bank of India (UBI), as well as two non-judicial agreement papers and an Income Tax return file.
The operation underscores the diligent efforts of the Hailakandi Police in combating illegal financial activities within the region. While the apprehension marks a significant breakthrough, authorities have confirmed that further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
