STF Assam Police Unveils Successive Operations Against Narcotics Trafficking
Guwahati, May 10, 2024: In a concerted effort to curb the menace of narcotics trafficking, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Assam Police executed a series of successful operations, resulting in multiple arrests and significant seizures of contraband.
The first operation, spearheaded by Additional Superintendent of Police Kalyan Pathak, unfolded in the early hours of May 9th in Kamrup district’s Boko area. Acting on precise intelligence regarding the movement of narcotics, STF intercepted a suspicious Alto vehicle. Upon thorough inspection, authorities uncovered 30 packets of heroin concealed within the vehicle’s steering wheel column, weighing a total of 420 grams. The individuals operating the vehicle, identified as Kabel Uddin (33) and Sabur Ali (52) from Barpeta’s Goroimari area, were promptly apprehended. Subsequently, the contraband, vehicle, and suspects were handed over to the Boko Police for further legal proceedings.
Later that same evening, a follow-up operation led by Inspector Kapil Pathak targeted Swadesh Nagar in Khanapara, within the jurisdiction of Basistha Police Station. This meticulously executed raid resulted in the apprehension of suspected drug peddlers, Rahul Mondal (26) and Sanjeet Roy (27), both residents of Khanapara Swadesh Nagar. Alongside the arrests, STF seized 37 vials containing suspected heroin, weighing a total of 49 grams. Additionally, two mobile phones and a sum of Rs. 3020 in cash were recovered from the scene.
The momentum of the crackdown against narcotics trafficking continued unabated with a third consecutive operation conducted under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police Satyendra Singh Hazari, APS. Acting swiftly on actionable intelligence, the STF raided Haji Mushafirkhana, under the jurisdiction of Paltanbazar Police Station. During this operation, STF apprehended an individual in possession of 2 soap boxes containing 24 grams of suspected heroin, along with other related articles.
The relentless efforts of the STF underscore the commitment of Assam Police to combat the illicit drug trade and safeguard communities from its detrimental effects. These decisive actions send a clear message that perpetrators of narcotics-related crimes will be pursued relentlessly and brought to justice.
