Manipur Police Make Significant Arrests, Seize Arms and Vehicles in Crackdown on Militant Activity
Desk Report, May 11, 2024: Manipur Police on May 10, 2024, made significant breakthroughs in their efforts to curb insurgency activities in the state. In separate operations conducted in Imphal East and Imphal West Districts, two individuals associated with proscribed outfits were apprehended.
In the first incident, a proactive operation led to the arrest of Huidrom Mishal Singh, a 24-year-old active cadre of the outlawed group PREPAK (PRO). Singh was apprehended from Imphal East District, where he was found in possession of a 9 mm Pistol, along with four live rounds and a magazine. Additionally, police recovered a four-wheeler vehicle and a mobile phone from his possession.
Simultaneously, in a parallel operation conducted in Langol, Imphal West District, Manipur Police arrested K. Gaijailung, a 41-year-old suspected member of the MNRF outfit. Gaijailung was allegedly involved in extortion activities targeting construction companies in Noney. During the arrest, police confiscated a black side bag, two mobile handsets, and a four-wheeler vehicle from his possession.
Both individuals are currently under interrogation, and further investigation is underway to uncover any additional links or activities associated with their respective outfits. The Manipur Police remain committed to upholding peace and stability in the state, and these arrests serve as a testament to their relentless efforts in combating insurgency and maintaining public safety.
