STF Operation in Assam Yields Major Breakthrough in Drug Trafficking, Apprehends Suspected Peddlers
Guwahati, May 13, 2024: In a targeted operation led by Inspector Kapil Pathak of the Special Task Force (STF) in Assam, a decisive raid was executed near the Khanapara AC Bus Stand, under the jurisdiction of Dispur Police Station, on May 12, 2024. The operation, based on actionable intelligence, resulted in the apprehension of several individuals believed to be habitual drug peddlers.
The meticulously planned raid, carried out on May 12, 2024, yielded a significant breakthrough in the ongoing efforts to curb illegal drug trafficking. Four individuals suspected of involvement in drug peddling were successfully detained during the operation. They were identified as Ganesh Patir from Bakulgiri Chariali, Lakhimpur; Sahid Hussain from Hajo, Kamrup; Partha Pratim Medhi from Chimala Bari, Baksa; and Amar Pradhan from 9th Mile, Ri-bhoi (Meghalaya).
The raid resulted in the confiscation of crucial evidence linked to criminal activities. Among the seized items were 77 vials containing suspected heroin, with an approximate weight of 105 grams, indicating a significant haul in narcotics. Additionally, five mobile phones suspected to be stolen were recovered, along with a sum of Rs. 7,220 in cash.
The success of this operation underscores the commitment of the Assam STF in combating the menace of drug trafficking and ensuring the safety and security of the region’s populace. Such targeted actions serve as a deterrent to criminal elements, reaffirming the resolve of law enforcement agencies to uphold the rule of law and safeguard public welfare.
