Karimganj Police Seize Heroin Worth Rs 10 Crore in Major Anti-Narcotics Operation
Silchar, May 16, 2024: In a significant blow to the illicit drug trade, Karimganj police have intercepted a substantial consignment of banned narcotics valued at approximately Rs 10 crore. The operation, which took place in the Dharma Nagar Basti area under the jurisdiction of the Badarpur police station, led to the recovery of 1.2 kilograms of heroin concealed within 110 soap boxes.
The truck, bearing registration number AS 01 JC 6796, was chased down by the police in an intense pursuit. Upon inspection, authorities discovered the contraband cleverly hidden within the vehicle, which is believed to have originated from Mizoram. This discovery underscores the extensive reach of the drug trafficking network in the region.
During the raid, law enforcement officers arrested a key suspect identified as Siyaab Uddin. His apprehension marks a critical step in the police’s ongoing efforts to dismantle the drug syndicates operating with impunity in the area. The operation reflects the commitment and resolve of the Karimganj police to combat the narcotics menace that has been plaguing the region.
