Three Arrested as Large Quantity of Fake Gold Seized in Chagolia Bust
Agomani, May 28, 2024: In a significant crackdown on illicit activities, Chagolia Police operating in the Chagolia region successfully intercepted a large consignment of counterfeit gold, leading to the apprehension of three individuals suspected of smuggling. The orchestrated operation, a joint effort between the 48 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and local Chagolia Police, aided by the Quick Action Team of the 48 Bn CRPF, unfolded along National Highway No. 17.
According to official reports, the interception occurred as the suppliers were transporting the bogus gold from Gauripur towards Coochbehar, West Bengal utilizing a Swift Dzire vehicle bearing registration number AS 01 BH 7791. Prompt and co-ordinated action by the authorities culminated in the arrest of the three suspects, who were found to be in possession of a substantial quantity of fake gold, totaling approximately 820 grams.
The arrested individuals, identified as alleged smugglers, are currently undergoing interrogation to ascertain the full extent of their involvement in the illicit trade of counterfeit gold. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to rooting out such criminal enterprises, thereby ensuring the maintenance of law and order and protecting the interests of the public.
