Assam Police STF Conducts Successful Raid, Apprehends Three for Fake Currency Operation
Guwahati, May 30, 2024: In a decisive operation conducted on the afternoon of May 29, the Special Task Force (STF) of the Assam Police raided the residence of Md. Baharul Islam in 2 No. Charagaon, under the jurisdiction of Bijni Police Station (BTAD). Acting on credible intelligence regarding the circulation of Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN), the STF apprehended three individuals involved in the illegal activity.
The raid led to the arrest of Md. Baharul Islam and Md. Dulal Ali, both residents of 2 No. Charagaon, Chirang (BTAD), and Md. Ajijur Rahman from Bagargaon, Chirang (BTAD). The STF recovered FICN with a face value of Rs. 18,000, comprising 36 counterfeit notes of Rs. 500 denomination. Additionally, eight bundles of white paper resembling Rs. 500 notes, a printing machine used for producing FICN, four mobile phones, a bundle of A-4 size paper, and a Renault KWID vehicle bearing registration number AS 01 BX 5504 were seized during the operation.
The seizure underscores the persistent issue of counterfeit currency in the region and highlights the ongoing efforts of the Assam Police to combat such illegal activities. The arrested individuals are currently in police custody, and further investigations are underway to uncover the extent of the counterfeit currency network.
