Halakura Police Intercept Cattle Smuggling Operation at Assam-Bengal Border
Agomani, May 31, 2024: Cattle smuggling persists along the Assam-Bengal interstate border, with smugglers using new tactics to evade capture. In a recent operation, Halakura police in Dhubri district seized a truck loaded with cattle in Golakganj.
Last night, Halakura police intercepted a truck carrying 43 cattle. The vehicle, registered as AS 28 AC 1494, was traveling from West Bengal to Barpeta. Authorities arrested five individuals involved in the smuggling operation.
The arrested smugglers are currently undergoing interrogation. This incident underscores the ongoing issue of cattle smuggling in the region. Authorities are intensifying efforts to curb this illegal activity.
The successful intervention by the Halakura police demonstrates their commitment to enforcing animal protection laws.
