NDA Dominates Assam in 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, Wins 11 of 14 Seats
Desk Report, June 05, 2024: The 2024 Lok Sabha election results have been announced by the Election Commission of India. In Assam out of 14 constituencies, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won 11 seats, while the Indian National Congress (INC) secured 3 seats.
In Barpeta, Phani Bhusan Choudhury of the Asom Gana Parishad secured 860,113 votes, defeating Deep Bayan of the INC by 222,351 votes.
In Darrang-Udalguri, Dilip Saikia of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won with 868,387 votes, surpassing Madhab Rajbangshi of the INC by 329,012 votes.
Dhubri saw Rakibul Hussain of the INC achieve a record victory with 1,471,885 votes, defeating Mohammed Badaruddin Ajmal of AIUDF by a margin of 1,012,476 votes, the highest in the 2024 elections.
In Dibrugarh, Sarbananda Sonowal of the BJP received 693,762 votes, defeating Lurinjyoti Gogoi of Assam Jatiya Parishad by 279,321 votes.
Amarsing Tisso of the BJP won Diphu with 334,620 votes, defeating independent candidate J.I. Kathar by 147,603 votes.
In Guwahati, Bijuli Kalita Medhi of the BJP secured 894,887 votes, defeating INC candidate Mira Borthakur Goswami by 251,090 votes.
Gaurav Gogoi of the INC won Jorhat with 751,771 votes, surpassing Topon Kumar Gogoi of the BJP by 144,393 votes.
Kripanath Mallah of the BJP narrowly won Karimganj with 545,093 votes, defeating Hafiz Rashid Ahmed Choudhury of the INC by 18,360 votes.
In Kaziranga, Kamakhya Prasad Tasa of the BJP secured 897,043 votes, defeating Roselina Tirkey of the INC by 248,947 votes.
Joyanta Basumatary of the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) won Kokrajhar with 488,995 votes, defeating Kampa Borgoyari of the Bodoland People’s Front by 51,583 votes.
Pradhan Baruah of the BJP secured Lakhimpur with 663,122 votes, defeating Uday Shankar Hazarika of the INC by 201,257 votes.
In Nagaon, Pradyut Bordoloi of the INC received 788,850 votes, defeating Suresh Borah of the BJP by 212,231 votes.
Parimal Suklabaidya of the BJP won Silchar with 652,405 votes, defeating Surya Kanta Sarkar of the INC by 264,311 votes.
Finally, in Sonitpur, Ranjit Dutta of the BJP secured 775,788 votes, defeating Premlal Ganju of the INC by 361,408 votes.
