Assam’s Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Nets Middleman in Guwahati Revenue Circle Bribery Scheme
Guwahati, June 6, 2024: In a significant crackdown on corruption, a team from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam, apprehended Mahfujur Rahman, a middleman, in a meticulously planned operation. Rahman was caught red-handed accepting a bribe from a complainant at the Office of the Guwahati Revenue Circle, Kamrup (M), in collusion with Swapna Medhi, Lot Mandal of the Circle.
The operation, which was executed with precision, revealed that Swapna Medhi had conspired with Mahfujur Rahman to demand and accept the bribe for facilitating namjari (land mutation) related work. Both individuals were detained at the office premises, highlighting the pervasive issue of corruption within the governmental framework.
The apprehension of Rahman and Medhi serves as a stern warning to those engaged in corrupt practices and reinforces the Directorate’s resolve to uphold integrity and justice in the administration.
