Major Drug Bust in Cachar: ₹8.5 Crore Worth of Heroin Seized
Desk Report, June 06, 2024: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Cachar Police, leveraging their robust intelligence network, conducted a major operation at Dholaikhal in Cachar today. The operation led to the seizure of heroin valued at ₹8.5 crore. Authorities seized 139 soap cases containing a total of approximately 1.700 kilograms of suspected heroin. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the efforts of the Assam Police, stating, “Well done Assam Police.”
In a separate and equally impactful operation, a team from the Special Task Force (STF), led by Inspector Kapil Pathak, executed a raid at 2 No. Railway Gate under the jurisdiction of Panbazar Police Station. Acting on specific intelligence, the team apprehended three drug peddlers. The raid resulted in the seizure of 49 vials containing 69.5 grams of heroin, along with mobile handsets and other articles.
These coordinated efforts highlight the relentless dedication of Assam’s law enforcement agencies in their fight against the drug menace. The successful operations underscore the effectiveness of their intelligence networks and operational capabilities in combating drug trafficking in the region.
