Manipur Police Crack Down on Illegal Activities in Bishnupur and Kakching Districts
Manipur Police Conducts Operations Yielding Significant Recoveries and Arrests
Desk Report, June 8, 2024: In a recent series of operations, Manipur Police have intensified their efforts to curb illegal activities in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Bishnupur District. During these meticulous search operations, a significant cache of weaponry and incriminating items were seized.
Among the recovered items were a Pompi Mortar, a locally manufactured SMG carbine with a magazine, a .303 Rifle with magazine, and an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) weighing approximately 1.5 kilograms. Additionally, two Mortar ILLU shells with shell covers, five 36 HE Grenades, six Detonators, a Telescopic Sight, a Tube Launching Grenade, and twelve Live Ammunition rounds were confiscated from Terakhongshangbi Santhong Gap, Bishnupur District.
In a separate operation conducted in the Pangantabi area of Kakching District, Manipur Police apprehended three individuals associated with the proscribed outfit KCP (People War Group). The arrested individuals, identified as Thokchom Sornu alias Amujao Singh, Laishram Birdina Meitei alias Tabhidi (38 years old), and Khundrakpam Rojit Singh alias Washington, were allegedly involved in extorting money from the general public.
During the arrest, police recovered three mobile phones, a four-wheeler vehicle, and various other incriminating items from the possession of the apprehended individuals.
