Five Notorious Thieves Arrested in Connection with Gossaigaon Temple Burglary
Gossaigaon, June 12, 2024: In a significant breakthrough, Gossaigaon Police have apprehended five notorious individuals in connection with the recent burglary at the Maa Mahamaya Temple. The raid, which resulted in the arrests, was conducted in Bilasipara, Dhubri district, by a coordinated team comprising the Kokrajhar Additional Superintendent of Police Crime, Fakiragram Police Team, Cyber Team, and Sub-Divisional Police Officer Hiren Kumar Deka.
The operation took place 16 days after the burglary, which occurred on the night of May 26. During the incident, thieves looted items valued at over Rs 10 lakh, including the crowns and ornaments of the temple deity.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mandal Ali, Sariuddin Ali, Mughal Hussain, Hazrat Ali, and Ashraf Ali, all hailing from Bilasipara. Among those apprehended are four thieves and one buyer of the stolen goods. Police have successfully recovered the stolen items, providing a sense of relief to the local community.
