Major Narcotics Bust: STF Intercepts Heroin Consignment in Assam
Guwahati, June 17, 2024: In a significant breakthrough, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam successfully intercepted a large narcotics consignment following a tip-off about a notorious narcotics peddler, Nasiruddin, also known as Nasir Bhai, from Goalpara. Acting on precise intelligence, the STF apprehended Nasir Bhai and his associates in an MG Hector with registration number AS 01 FQ 3128, in front of Boko Police Station.
The STF operation, based on information that Nasir Bhai and his associates would receive a consignment of heroin transported from Sora, Manipur to Goalpara, resulted in the interception of the MG Hector. Upon inspection, the STF discovered 30 packets of heroin, weighing approximately 420 grams (excluding packaging), concealed in a bag.
Three individuals, including Nasir Bhai, Atikur, and Salim – the Manipuri carrier from Sora, were detained during the operation. The Swift Dzire, registration number AS 01 FW 3878, which was serving as an escort vehicle to monitor police checks, managed to flee towards Matia.
Subsequently, a search was conducted at the residence of Shohidul Islam, the driver of the Swift Dzire, located in Matia. However, Shohidul Islam evaded capture with the assistance of his family members, who resisted law enforcement officers during the search.
The STF has initiated necessary legal measures against the apprehended individuals and is intensifying efforts to locate and apprehend Shohidul Islam.
