N.F. Railway to Resume Garib Rath Express Services Connecting Northeast to Kolkata
Guwahati, June 20, 2024: In a significant move aimed at enhancing rail connectivity between the Northeast region and West Bengal, the N.F. Railway has announced the resumption of two pairs of Garib Rath Express trains starting July 2024. These services are set to cater to longstanding demands from commuters and are expected to bolster economic ties and accessibility for patients, students, and other travelers across adjacent states.
Commencing from July 3rd, 2024, Train No. 12502, operating from Agartala to Kolkata, will depart every Wednesday at 7:35 hrs, arriving in Kolkata at 14:30 hrs the following day. Conversely, Train No. 12501 will ply the Kolkata to Agartala route every Sunday, starting July 7th, departing Kolkata at 21:40 hrs and reaching Agartala at 05:15 hrs on Tuesday.
Similarly, Train No. 12518, originating from Guwahati and bound for Kolkata, will commence its service every Saturday from July 6th, departing Guwahati at 21:00 hrs and reaching Kolkata at 14:30 hrs the subsequent day. Its counterpart, Train No. 12517, will depart Kolkata for Guwahati every Thursday starting July 4th at 21:40 hrs, arriving in Guwahati at 16:15 hrs the following day.
These trains, equipped with 16 AC-3 Tier Economy coaches for passenger comfort, will traverse key stations including Dharmanagar, New Haflong, Guwahati, Goalpara Town, New Bongaigaon, New Alipurduar, New Jalpaiguri, Malda Town, Katwa Jn., and Bandel Jn., facilitating seamless connectivity and convenience for travelers.
The resumption of these Garib Rath Express services marks a significant step towards fortifying rail links between Northeast India and Kolkata, fostering economic growth and facilitating easier travel for diverse segments of society. This initiative is poised to meet the transportation needs of the region effectively, heralding a new era of connectivity and accessibility.
