Prime Minister Modi to Lead 10th International Day of Yoga in Srinagar, Advocating ‘Yoga for Self and Society’
Desk Report, June 21, 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to oversee the commemoration of the 10th International Day of Yoga today at SKICC in Srinagar, emphasizing this year’s theme, “Yoga for Self and Society.” The event aims to unite a large gathering in promoting global health through yoga, highlighting its manifold benefits encompassing physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Accompanying Prime Minister Modi will be distinguished dignitaries, including Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, and Union Minister of State, Shri Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav. Together, they will participate in the Common Yoga Protocol session and address participants hailing from diverse global corners.
Prime Minister Modi has proactively urged Gram Pradhans to lead local initiatives promoting holistic health and yoga awareness, emphasizing their pivotal role in nurturing individual well-being and societal harmony.
Preparations at SKICC are underway to ensure a memorable experience for yoga enthusiasts, adhering to stringent health protocols. Since its inception in 2015, Prime Minister Modi has passionately championed the International Day of Yoga, organizing illustrious events both domestically and internationally, including at prestigious venues and the United Nations Headquarters.
This year’s celebrations extend nationwide, featuring “Yoga for Space” initiatives at ISRO centers and involvement from the Gaganyaan project team, illustrating yoga’s integration into various sectors of Indian governance and scientific research.
Globally, Indian Embassies and Missions will also participate in the festivities, amplifying yoga’s global footprint and its unifying influence across borders.
The 2024 International Day of Yoga festivities embody a comprehensive governmental approach, mobilizing departments, state governments, and union territories to orchestrate mass yoga sessions and awareness campaigns. In Delhi, the Ministry of Ayush, in collaboration with NDMC, ASI, and DDA, will organize expansive yoga sessions, inviting families to participate in promoting health, unity, and familial bonds.
To engage a global audience, the Ministry has launched the “Yoga with Family” Video Contest on platforms like MyGov and MyBharat, encouraging entries that reflect yoga’s transformative impact on familial and societal dynamics.
Participants and yoga enthusiasts are urged to contribute their insights using hashtags like #InternationalDayofYoga2024, #YogaForSelfAndSociety, #YogaWithFamily, and #IDY2024, thereby enhancing the global observance of yoga’s significant impact on personal and communal welfare.
