Prime Minister Narendra Modi Holds Bilateral Discussions with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina
Desk Report, June 22, 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in bilateral talks today with Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. The meeting underscored the deepening ties between the two nations.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted that Prime Minister Modi warmly welcomed his Bangladeshi counterpart, emphasizing their frequent meetings since 2019. Jaiswal’s statement on ‘X’ read, “Deepening India-Bangladesh Maitri! PM Narendra Modi extended a warm welcome to PM Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh at Hyderabad House ahead of their bilateral discussions. The two leaders have met each other ten times since 2019, making unprecedented transformations in the relationship.”
Earlier today, Sheikh Hasina received a ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Both leaders, along with their ministers and delegates, convened at Rashtrapati Bhavan for discussions. This visit marks Sheikh Hasina as the first foreign guest on a bilateral State visit to India during Modi’s 3.0 government.
The Ministry of External Affairs described this reception as a ceremonial gesture for a “special partner.” Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in India on Friday for a two-day State visit, accepting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s invitation.
