Guwahati Police Intercepts Cattle Smuggling Attempt at Jorabat Crossing; Two Arrested
Guwahati, June 27, 2024: An East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) team from Jorabat Out Post of Basistha Police Station successfully intercepted a truck bearing registration number AS 02 CC 2238 at Jorabat crossing today. The vehicle was attempting to smuggle 25 live cattle into Meghalaya. During the operation, one cattle carcass was also discovered in the truck.
The police apprehended two individuals in connection with the incident. The suspects have been identified as Musta Ahmed, 38, from Samuguri, and Nur Hussain, 48, from Nagaon. Both men were taken into custody and are facing legal action.
Authorities have initiated a thorough investigation to uncover further details regarding the smuggling operation. The EGPD remains vigilant in its efforts to curb illegal activities and ensure the safety and security of the region.
