Guwahati City Police Recover Defrauded Funds in Two Separate Cyber Crime Incidents
Guwahati, July 04, 2024: In a significant breakthrough, the Cyber PS team of Guwahati City Police successfully recovered ₹39,375.24 after a resident of Hatigaon was defrauded of ₹61,000 through a fraudulent Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) call. The recovered amount has been credited back to the victim’s bank account.
In a separate incident, the Cyber PS team of Guwahati City Police managed to secure ₹6,45,000 after a resident of Lalmati fell victim to a cyber fraud scheme operated by Golden Finger Alliance Investment, resulting in a loss of ₹10,80,000. Of the recovered funds, ₹4,45,000 has been credited back to the victim’s account. Authorities expect to return more money to the victim shortly.
These successful recoveries highlight the ongoing efforts of Guwahati City Police to combat cyber crime and protect residents from financial fraud.
