Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma Visits Flood-Affected Juguni Dhari Village
Guwahati, July 05, 2024: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Juguni Dhari Village in the Majuli Revenue Circle, where a stream from the Brahmaputra River breached an embankment, resulting in severe flooding. The deluge has caused significant damage, affecting the lives and properties of many residents.
During his visit, Chief Minister Sarma thoroughly assessed the situation and instructed officials to use geo bags as an immediate measure for effective flood control. He emphasized the need for a lasting solution to the recurring problem and announced that expert guidance from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT-G) would be sought to devise a permanent strategy.
In his address, Chief Minister Sarma assured the affected residents that prompt relief measures would be implemented to alleviate their suffering. He reiterated the government’s commitment to providing necessary aid and support to those impacted by the floods.
