Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma Reviews BTR Development Initiatives
Guwahati, July 06, 2024: Today, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma convened a crucial meeting with the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) administration, representatives from the All Bodo Students Union, and senior officials. The objective was to assess the implementation progress of various initiatives outlined in the 2020 Memorandum of Settlement (MoS) between the Government of Assam and the Bodo Group.
Key agenda items included expanding the BTR to encompass new villages, the rehabilitation of ex-militants, and the designation of Bodos residing in Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong districts as Scheduled Tribes (Hills). Discussions also focused on the provincialization of Bodo medium schools and the establishment of a dedicated directorate for these institutions. Additionally, deliberations touched upon the transfer of personnel from the BTR, the filling of vacant positions, and the creation of new posts.
Chief Minister Sarma issued directives for immediate actions to accelerate these projects, notably emphasizing the Cultural Project under the special development initiative, Badofa Upendranath Brahma. Furthermore, the government has sanctioned funds for constructing the Gurudham of Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma, Jyoti Ashram at Roumari, and Yajnashala of Brahma Dharma.
BTR Chief Pramod Boro was also present during the proceedings, underscoring the collaborative effort towards advancing these developmental goals.
