Bishwanath, January 16, 2024 – On the Uruka night, a solemn occasion leading up to Bhogali Bihu celebrations, tragedy struck in Bishwanath as a fierce fire erupted in the residence of Usha Hazarika, a widow residing in the Erabari area of Navpur village.
As the people of Bishwanath and the entire state rejoiced in the Bhogali Bihu festivities, Usha, along with her son and daughter, was partaking in the celebrations near their home. However, the atmosphere took a dire turn when panic ensued in the Erabari area.
Amidst the merriment, a sudden loud sound gripped the attention of the celebrants. Rushing to the source, they discovered Usha Hazarika’s house ablaze. The fire brigade was promptly informed, but unfortunately, most of the house’s belongings had succumbed to the flames by the time the firefighting team arrived.
Initial findings point to a short circuit as the likely cause of the fire, occurring around 1 am. The blaze ravaged the entire house, resulting in the loss of belongings worth lakhs of rupees.
This heartbreaking incident serves as a somber reminder of the potential hazards during festive occasions, urging communities to prioritize and adhere to stringent fire safety practices.
