Karbi Anglong Police Seize Large Quantity of Narcotics in Pre-Dawn Operation
Guwahati, July 09, 2024: In the early hours of the morning, Karbi Anglong Police executed a meticulously planned anti-narcotics operation, resulting in the interception of a vehicle based on actionable intelligence. Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, Police officers discovered a significant haul of narcotics, including 685.65 grams of heroin and 3.118 kilograms of YABA tablets, amounting to over 29,400 tablets.
The narcotics were being transported from a neighboring state, indicating a cross-border drug trafficking network. Two individuals involved in the transportation of these illegal substances have been apprehended and are currently in police custody.
The successful operation drew commendation from Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who took to the social media platform ‘X’ to praise the efforts of the Karbi Anglong Police. In his statement, Chief Minister Sarma said, “Good job Assam Police, #AssamAgainstDrugs.”
This operation underscores the ongoing commitment of Assam’s law enforcement agencies to combat the drug menace and protect the state’s youth from the scourge of narcotics. The seizure of such a substantial quantity of drugs highlights the persistent threat posed by drug trafficking networks and the necessity for continued vigilance and coordinated efforts to dismantle these operations.
