Assam Government Announces Major Recruitment Drive to Fill 35,000 Vacancies by April 2025

Guwahati, July 09, 2024: The Assam government has launched an ambitious recruitment campaign aimed at filling approximately 35,000 government positions by April 2025. This initiative, unveiled by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on July 9th, underscores a commitment to transparency and efficiency in the recruitment process.

The recruitment drive spans across various sectors crucial to public service, including law enforcement, education, and administrative services. Notably, the Assam Police will see over 6,400 positions filled, with physical tests slated to commence on October 3rd. Concurrently, the Assam Direct Recruitment Examination (ADRE) for Grade III will offer over 7,500 posts, with preliminary exams scheduled for September 15th, 22nd, and 29th. For Grade IV, encompassing more than 4,500 positions, preliminary exams are set for October 20th and 27th.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted that the ADRE examinations for Grade III and Grade IV will be conducted in three stages: Prelims, Mains, and Viva-Voce, beginning from September 2024. The process will ensure comprehensive evaluation, including skill tests and physical assessments where applicable, culminating within the stipulated timeframe of April 2025.

Moreover, the education sector will witness substantial augmentation with plans to recruit over 13,000 teachers for elementary and secondary schools. Details regarding this recruitment endeavor are anticipated to be released shortly.

This comprehensive recruitment initiative reflects the government’s proactive approach to addressing staffing needs across critical sectors, aiming to enhance public service delivery and administrative efficiency in Assam.
