BIMSTEC Foreign Ministers Meet PM Modi to Bolster Regional Cooperation
Desk Report, July 12, 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized India’s dedication to BIMSTEC during a joint meeting with Foreign Ministers from member states. He discussed enhancing cooperation across diverse areas like connectivity, energy, trade, health, agriculture, science, security, and people-to-people exchanges.
Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to a peaceful, prosperous, resilient, and safe BIMSTEC region. He highlighted the bloc’s importance to India’s Neighbourhood First and Look East Policies, as well as the SAGAR vision for Security and Growth for All in the Region.
Moreover, he expressed full support for Thailand’s upcoming BIMSTEC Summit in September, underscoring India’s proactive role in the regional framework.
The meeting underscored BIMSTEC’s potential as a catalyst for economic and social development, reflecting India’s strategic priorities and regional aspirations.
