Guwahati, July 13, 2024: In a significant meeting today, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma engaged in discussions with Union Minister, Jyotiraditya M Scindia, at the Chief Minister’s office. The meeting focused on several key issues, including enhancing digital infrastructure in Assam, increasing the penetration of 4G/5G and high-speed internet services, and developing a skilled workforce to support telecom infrastructure.
The talks emphasized the adoption of the latest technologies to ensure the rapid restoration of networks in flood-affected areas. This initiative aims to improve resilience and maintain communication channels during natural disasters, which frequently impact the region.
Furthermore, both leaders highlighted the importance of better coordination with the North Eastern Council (NEC) to streamline efforts and resources. They also discussed the expedited implementation of schemes approved by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), aiming to boost the state’s overall development.
The meeting underscored a shared commitment to leveraging technological advancements for the state’s growth and ensuring that Assam remains at the forefront of digital connectivity and infrastructure development.
