STF Seizes 308 Grams of Heroin in Swift Operation at Guwahati
Guwahati, July 14, 2024: Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Special Task Force (STF), led by Kalyan Kr Pathak, APS, Additional Superintendent of Police (STF), conducted a decisive search operation at Katahbari under the jurisdiction of Gorchuk Police Station. The operation resulted in the apprehension of two Lower Assam-based drug paddlers and the seizure of 22 soap boxes containing heroin. The seized heroin weighed a total of 308 grams, excluding the weight of the soap boxes.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the contraband was transported from Dimapur via the Awadh Assam Express train. The narcotics were intended to be moved from Guwahati to Barpeta. This successful operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the STF to curb drug trafficking in the region.
Further inquiries are underway to trace the source and distribution network involved in this illicit trade. The apprehended individuals are being interrogated to gather more information on the drug trafficking ring and their accomplices.
The STF’s prompt action and effective coordination underscore the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat drug-related crimes and ensure the safety and security of the community.
