Assam Chief Minister Launches Amrit Brikshya Andolan 2.0 App for Massive Tree Plantation Drive
Guwahati, July 19, 2024: In a significant move towards environmental sustainability, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has officially launched the Amrit Brikshya Andolan 2.0 app today. This new digital platform enables individuals to register or renew their participation in the state’s ambitious tree-planting initiative. Following the success of the first edition of Amrit Brikshya Andolan, this enhanced version aims to plant 3 crore saplings across the state from August 1 to 15.
The initiative will leverage saplings from the State Government’s own nursery, where over 4 crore saplings have been cultivated. Of these, 3 crore saplings are designated for immediate plantation, while 1 crore will be reserved for replacement purposes. To streamline the distribution process, 4,000 distribution points have been established throughout Assam.
Chief Minister Sarma emphasized the long-term vision of the initiative, highlighting the state government’s target to plant 10 crore saplings over the coming years. This endeavor underscores Assam’s commitment to fostering a greener environment and combating climate change.
The Amrit Brikshya Andolan 2.0 app marks a critical step in mobilizing community participation and ensuring the success of this large-scale environmental project.
