Assam Police Recovers ₹10.67 Lakh for Senior Citizen Defrauded in Online Scam
Guwahati, July 25, 2024: In a significant achievement, the Cyber Police Station (PS) of Assam Police has successfully recovered the full amount of ₹10,67,296.01 defrauded from a senior citizen’s bank account through an online fraud scheme.
The final tranche of ₹5,31,542.35 was credited back into the victim’s account today, completing the restitution process. Earlier, an initial tranche of ₹5,35,753.66 had been returned.
This recovery highlights the efficiency and dedication of Assam Police’s cyber crime unit in tackling digital fraud and ensuring justice for victims. The swift action taken by the Cyber PS team sets a commendable precedent for combating cybercrime in the state.
