Parbatjhora, January 17, 2024 – In a significant move towards enhancing public welfare, the distribution of new ration cards commenced in Kokrajhar District, aligning with the statewide initiative in Assam. The distribution event in the 5th Parbatjhora Assembly Constituency started on January 16, 2024, benefiting 2,083 underprivileged families. The distribution took place in an open field near the Parbatjhora Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s Office.
Chief Executive Member of the Bodoland Territorial Council, Pramod Boro, presided over the distribution ceremony, personally handing out ration cards to the beneficiaries. During the event, Pramod Boro expressed his appreciation for the commendable efforts of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in championing initiatives that directly impact the lives of the people.
On the same day and continuing on January 17, the distribution reached other constituencies in Kokrajhar District. A total of 5,885 families in the 3rd Kokrajhar Assembly Constituency, 2,004 families in the 4th Baokhungri Assembly Constituency, 5,787 families in the 2nd Dotma Assembly Constituency, and 14,393 families in the 1st Gossaigaon Assembly Constituency were provided with new ration cards. The comprehensive effort resulted in a total of 31,152 families across the five assembly constituencies obtaining their new ration cards during these two days.
The distribution events saw the active participation of key figures, including Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro, Executive Member Reorewa Narzhary, former MLA Banendra Kumar Mushahary, Kokrajhar District Commissioner Pradip Kumar Dwivedi, Kokrajhar District Additional Commissioner, and Acting Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Parbatjhora Debojyoti Gogoi, along with Sub-Divisional Police Officer Parthapratim Duwara.
This initiative underscores the commitment of the local administration and the Bodoland Territorial Council to ensure that essential services like the public distribution system reach those who need them the most.
