AIUDF Announces Candidates for Crucial Lok Sabha Seats in Assam
Desk Report, March 17, 2024: In a strategic move, the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) unveiled its candidates for three pivotal Lok Sabha seats in Assam on Friday, under the leadership of party chief Badruddin Ajmal. This announcement sets the stage for an intense electoral showdown in the forthcoming polls.
Badruddin Ajmal, a stalwart of AIUDF, is vying for his fourth consecutive term in the Lok Sabha, representing the Dhubri constituency. Alongside, Sahabul Islam Choudhury has been nominated to vie for the AIUDF ticket in the 7 No. Karimganj constituency, while Aminul Islam will contest from the 9 No. Nagaon constituency.
The unveiling of these candidates not only consolidates AIUDF’s grip in the region but also positions it as a potent force, challenging the dominance of other political entities. By expanding its electoral footprint, AIUDF has further intensified the political landscape, fielding candidates in two additional seats—Nagaon and Karimganj.
The three Lok Sabha constituencies—Nagaon, Karimganj, and Dhubri—are characterized by a significant Muslim electorate, traditionally shaping electoral outcomes in the region. AIUDF’s calculated maneuver aims to leverage this demographic factor, potentially altering the political landscape in Assam.
