Allegations of Misconduct Surround Headmistress at Ananta Mohan High School in Golakganj

Dhubri, February 15, 2024: The headmistress of Ananta Mohan High School in Bishkhowa, Dhubri, Suniti Bala Roy, faces accusations of impropriety as allegations emerge of her soliciting money from Below Poverty Line (BPL) students for matriculation exam form filling. This controversial practice has ignited fury among parents and residents in the Golakganj vicinity.
Government directives mandate fee waivers for matriculation exam forms for students from BPL backgrounds. Nevertheless, it is purported that Headmistress Suniti Bala Roy has been illicitly collecting 400 to 500 rupees from each BPL student, taking advantage of their precarious financial circumstances.
Compounding the issue, a notice affixed to the school’s bulletin board by the headmistress appears to downplay the gravity of the situation, stipulating that parents of BPL students must furnish income certificates. Such actions not only exacerbate the financial strain on already disadvantaged families but also contravene principles of fair educational access.

Moreover, troubling reports indicate that non-compliance with the demanded fees results in student harassment. Despite concerned parents lodging written grievances with the Inspector of Schools, Dhubri District Circle, Dhubri, no measures have been taken against the headmistress, leaving parents and residents disheartened.
Additionally, there are allegations of the headmistress misappropriating school assets, including television sets, desktop computers, chairs, and utensils, relocating them to her personal residence. On the occasion of Saraswati Puja, it is purported that she insisted on utensil rentals rather than providing them, further indicating a disregard for the well-being of students and the school community.
