APDCL Employee Caught Red-Handed Accepting Bribe for Commercial Meter Application Processing
Desk Report, March 18, 2024: In a significant development, an employee of the Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) in Nagaon has been apprehended by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption for accepting a bribe. Identified as Nanda Hazarika, the individual served in the capacity of Switch Board Operator at the APDCL sub-division 2 office in Nagaon.
The incident came to light following a complaint lodged by a concerned party with the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption. The complainant alleged that Hazarika had solicited a bribe to facilitate the processing of an application pertaining to a commercial meter.
Responding promptly to the complaint, the anti-corruption agency devised a meticulous plan to apprehend the accused individual. Acting upon this strategy, Hazarika was apprehended red-handed while accepting the demanded bribe in the vicinity of his residence in Nagaon.
The Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption released a statement regarding the successful operation, affirming the apprehension of Nanda Hazarika, Switch Board Operator-1, at the APDCL Sub Division-2 office in Nagaon. The statement emphasized the agency’s commitment to upholding integrity and combating corruption within public service sectors.
