Assam Cabinet Boosts Rural Development, Urban Water Supply, and Registration Efficiency
Guwahati: The Assam Cabinet announced several key initiatives to boost development and improve governance. These decisions aim to enhance rural infrastructure, ensure clean water access, and simplify birth and death registrations.
In a move to strengthen rural infrastructure, the Cabinet approved 104 projects totaling ₹210.8 crore. These projects will benefit residents in 12 districts of Assam. The initiative focuses on improving road connectivity and accelerating rural development.
To provide clean drinking water to urban households, ₹207.92 crore has been sanctioned for water supply projects. These projects will be implemented in Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Tezpur, and North Lakhimpur under the Urban Infrastructure Development Fund (UIDF). The move addresses the long-standing issue of water scarcity in urban areas.
The Cabinet also approved the ‘Assam Registration of Births and Deaths (Amendment) Rules, 2024’. This decision aims to make registration processes more citizen-friendly and efficient. The updated rules streamline procedures to ensure faster and hassle-free services for residents.
These initiatives showcase Assam’s commitment to infrastructure development, digital governance, and public welfare. The projects are expected to positively impact millions of residents across the state.
