Assam Chief Minister Commits to Environmental Sustainability with Earth Hour Participation

Desk Report, March 24, 2024: Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, recently took to the microblogging site X to highlight his proactive approach to environmental sustainability. He announced his participation in Earth Hour 2024 with the slogan, “Switching off today for a brighter tomorrow.”

The Chief Minister’s office actively observed this global event, emphasizing the urgent need for energy conservation and advocating for a cleaner Earth. Sarma’s dedication to environmental stewardship goes beyond mere symbolic gestures. He has unveiled a concrete plan to curtail energy consumption in government offices across the state.

In a previous statement, Sarma shared, “On the occasion of Earth Hour, I have instructed that power connections in the offices of Assam Secretariat—excluding those of the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, Finance, and Home Departments—shall automatically disconnect daily between 9 PM and 9 AM.”

By participating in Earth Hour 2024 and implementing energy-saving measures in government offices, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma demonstrates a strong commitment to promoting environmental sustainability in Assam.
