Assam CM Discusses Energy Reforms and Urban Development with Union Minister

Guwahati, July 24, 2024: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma held a significant meeting with Union Minister Manohar Lal today. The discussion centered on the consistent availability of electricity across Assam, with a focus on developing and implementing a roadmap for energy sector reforms. These reforms aim to benefit consumers, distributors, and producers alike.

The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of these initiatives in ensuring a stable and efficient energy supply for all regions of the state. The proposed reforms are expected to streamline energy distribution and production processes, ultimately enhancing the overall quality of service for consumers.

In addition to energy sector discussions, the meeting addressed the development and maintenance of urban wetlands in a sustainable manner. This initiative aims to balance urban development with environmental conservation, ensuring the ecological health of urban wetlands.

Another key topic was the establishment of a satellite township near Guwahati. This project is envisioned as a step towards urban expansion and modernization, providing new residential and commercial opportunities while alleviating congestion in the city center.
