Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Reviews Key Infrastructure Projects, Directs Land Allotment for Assembly in Dibrugarh

Guwahati; March 01, 2025: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired a high-level meeting with the Public Works Department (Building) at Lok Sewa Bhawan to assess progress on key infrastructure projects across the state. The review focused on various major developments, including stadiums, judicial infrastructure, and administrative buildings.

During the meeting, CM Sarma closely examined the status of several important projects:

  • Indoor Stadium & Playground Development at GMCH – Enhancing sports facilities at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital to support recreation and fitness.
  • Co-District Commissioners Offices – Strengthening administrative infrastructure for efficient governance.
  • Gauhati High Court, Guwahati – Reviewing expansion and modernization plans for the state’s judicial headquarters.
  • FIFA-Standard Football Ground – Nehru Stadium – Upgrading Nehru Stadium to meet FIFA standards, aiming to boost football infrastructure in Assam.
  • Boundary Wall & External Road for Assam Engineering College, Jalukbari – Addressing infrastructural needs for the prominent technical institution.
  • Khanikar Stadium Development – Enhancing sports infrastructure in Dibrugarh for regional athletes.

In addition to the infrastructure review, CM Sarma, via video conferencing, directed the Deputy Commissioner of Dibrugarh to allocate land for the construction of the proposed State Assembly and MLA Hostel in the district. This move is expected to enhance administrative functionality and facilitate better governance in upper Assam.

The Assam government continues to prioritize infrastructure development to bolster administrative efficiency, sports facilities, and judicial capacity. The Chief Minister emphasized the timely completion of these projects and assured necessary support to ensure smooth execution.

With Assam’s rapid development, these initiatives align with the state’s long-term vision for infrastructural modernization and regional growth.
