Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Inaugurates Two New Flyovers to Boost Dibrugarh’s Connectivity

April 28, 2025: In a major boost to Dibrugarh’s urban infrastructure, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated two significant flyover projects. The projects are aimed at reducing traffic congestion and improving city connectivity.

At the event, CM Sarma first inaugurated the Convoy Road Flyover. This 615.4-meter-long structure connects Convoy Road with the old NH-37. Built at a cost of ₹56.69 crore, the flyover includes pedestrian walkways and a rail-overpass, making it safer and more convenient for commuters.

Importantly, the flyover has been named in honor of Dr. Lila Gogoi, a noted figure of the region. Officials said the project is set to ease traffic snarls and provide smoother access to key areas, marking a step forward in Assam’s urban development.

Soon after, CM Sarma also inaugurated the Mancotta Road Flyover in Dibrugarh. This 450-meter-long flyover links Thana Chariali and Chowkidinghee Chariali. Built at an investment of ₹60.13 crore, it features dedicated pedestrian paths to ensure safe movement for walkers.

Named after Bagmibor Nilamoni Phukan, a celebrated personality, the new flyover is expected to significantly decongest busy traffic routes. It will also offer residents a faster, more efficient travel experience across the town.

The twin projects promise not just convenience but also symbolize Assam’s leap toward a more connected and progressive future. With faster commute options and improved urban mobility, Dibrugarh now steps closer to realizing its smart city goals.
