Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma Reviews State Connectivity Projects
Guwahati, June 30, 2024: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma conducted an in-depth review meeting with officials from the Public Works Department (PWD) to evaluate ongoing and proposed connectivity projects across the state. This meeting aimed to ensure timely completion and efficient execution of various infrastructure initiatives.
Chief Minister Sarma meticulously assessed all current projects, receiving detailed on-ground feedback from engineers. The review covered a wide array of initiatives, encompassing significant schemes such as Asom Mala 1.0 and 2.0, RIDF NABARD, the Assam Resilient Rural Bridge Project, the Assam Resilient Hill Roads Development Project, Externally Aided Projects, and ongoing flyover construction works.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Sarma addressed various issues faced by the PWD. He listened to the concerns of department officials and provided instructions to resolve them promptly. His directive emphasized the importance of overcoming obstacles to ensure that all projects adhere to their scheduled timelines.
The reviewed projects under schemes like Asom Mala are crucial for improving Assam’s road infrastructure. Asom Mala aims to upgrade and maintain state highways and major district roads, enhancing overall connectivity. Additionally, the Assam Resilient Rural Bridge Project and the Assam Resilient Hill Roads Development Project focus on building robust infrastructure capable of withstanding natural calamities, thereby ensuring sustainable development.
Externally Aided Projects were also a key focus of the review. These projects, supported by international agencies, aim to bring advanced technology and funding to Assam’s infrastructure development. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for efficient utilization of these resources to achieve maximum impact.
