Assam CM Announces New Compassionate Grant Distribution Ratio for Deceased Government Employees
Guwahati, August 14, 2024: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma has introduced a new policy for the distribution of compassionate grants to the families of deceased government employees. The revised guidelines stipulate that 80% of the grant will be allocated to the spouse, while 20% will be directed to the parents of the deceased. This change marks a significant shift from the previous practice, where the entire grant was awarded exclusively to the spouse.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the new distribution ratio is designed to ensure that the parents of deceased government employees receive financial support alongside the spouse. By allocating a portion of the grant to the parents, the government aims to provide them with a measure of security during a difficult time.
This policy update reflects the government’s commitment to balancing the financial needs of both spouses and parents, recognizing the important roles they play in the lives of government employees. The decision underscores the administration’s dedication to supporting families in their time of loss.
