Desk Report, February 16, 2024: In a swift response to earlier claims of leaked question papers circulating via mobile phones in Assam’s Cachar, State Education Minister Ranoj Pegu unequivocally dismissed them as fake. Pegu vehemently addressed reports of a question paper leak on the inaugural day of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examinations.
Contrary to the circulated images, Pegu asserted, “The news of a question paper leak is false.” He promptly dispatched the Cachar district administration and police superintendent to the implicated examination center. Their subsequent investigation refuted the alleged leak, with Pegu confirming, “No such instance has occurred, and several individuals are now undergoing police interrogation.”
Taking to his official platform, Pegu reiterated, “Reports of an HSLC examination question paper leak in Cachar District are false.” Authorities are actively probing the origins of this misinformation and are poised to take legal measures as needed.

Earlier in the day, suspicions arose regarding a question paper leak at Banskandi Nena Mia HS School in Cachar. The incident unfolded on the first day of the 2024 HSLC examinations when images of the purported question paper surfaced online and gained widespread attention. However, the veracity of these papers remains unverified, according to reports.
Importantly, this development follows the introduction of a bill by the Assam government during the ongoing Budget session of the state assembly. The bill aims to address exam-time malpractices, including cheating, underscoring the state’s commitment to maintaining the integrity of the education system.
