Assam Excise Department Increases Alcohol Prices Effective April 1, 2024
Desk Report, March 26, 2024: The Excise Department is raising the prices of alcohol starting April 1, 2024. The changes affect various types of alcohol like Indian-made foreign liquor, beer, wine, and ready-to-drink drinks. These new prices are for regular buyers and those who buy from Canteen Stores Depot (CSD) and paramilitary wholesale warehouses.
Here’s the New Price List:
Beer:
– For Beer with up to 5% alcohol: Prices will be between Rs. 33 to Rs. 43 for a 650 ml bottle. The tax will be 0.73 to 0.88 times the bottle’s value.
– For Beer with more than 5% alcohol: Prices start at Rs. 43 for a 650 ml bottle. The tax is a flat 0.88 times the bottle’s value.
India-Made Spirits:
– There are different types like General Brand, Regular Brand, Luxury Brand, and more.
– Prices will range from Rs. 130 to Rs. 530 for a 750 ml bottle. Taxes will be between 0.66 to 1.32 times the bottle’s value.
Ready-to-Drink Drinks:
– Prices start at Rs. 14 for a 275 ml bottle. The tax is 0.44 times the bottle’s value.
Wines:
– Prices start at Rs. 43 for a 750 ml bottle. The tax is 0.25 times the bottle’s value.
Prices for CSD and Paramilitary Warehouses:
Beer:
– For Beer with up to 5% alcohol: Prices will start at Rs. 16 for a 650 ml bottle. The tax is 0.53 times the CSD price.
– For Beer with more than 5% alcohol: Prices start at Rs. 20 for a 650 ml bottle. The tax is 0.63 times the CSD price.
India-Made Spirits:
– It’s the same types as for regular buyers.
– Prices will range from Rs. 60 to Rs. 262 for a 750 ml bottle. Taxes are between 0.60 to 0.96 times the CSD price.
Ready-to-Drink Drinks:
– Prices start at Rs. 10 for a 275 ml bottle. The tax is 0.40 times the CSD price.
Wines:
– Prices start at Rs. 60 for a 750 ml bottle. The tax is 0.75 times the CSD price.
With these new prices, people will likely pay more for alcohol. This change can affect how people drink and spend money in the state.
