Assam Cabinet Approves Extension for IPS Officers Hiren Chandra Nath and Jitmol Doley
Guwahati: The Government of Assam has announced significant appointments in the police department following the recent approval from the state’s Cabinet. Hiren Chandra Nath, IPS, has been appointed as the Special Additional Director General of Police (Special Branch) for a period of two years, starting from October 1, 2024. This decision comes as a continuation of his previous role, where he served until his superannuation on September 30, 2024. He will now continue to operate with full administrative and financial powers in this critical position.
In another notable decision, the Assam government has re-engaged Jitmol Doley, IPS (Retd.), for a contractual period of two years as the Inspector General of Police (Operation) in the Assam Police Headquarters at Guwahati, effective from October 1, 2024. The re-engagement of Mr. Doley follows the Cabinet’s approval, aiming to leverage his extensive experience in law enforcement.
The payment terms and conditions for these post-retirement engagements will be governed by the guidelines mentioned in the Personnel (A) Department’s Memorandum No. AAP.88/2017/30, dated July 18, 2018.
These appointments are expected to strengthen the police administration in Assam, ensuring continued efficiency and leadership in maintaining law and order across the state.
