Assam Girl Shines on Global Stage: Brinda Kashyap Receives Prestigious UNESCO Award
Guwahati, July 13, 2024: Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently took to social media to celebrate the remarkable achievement of Brinda Kashyap, a young scientist from Guwahati. Kashyap has been honored as the sole awardee from India by the International Coordinating Council of UNESCO’s Man and Biosphere Programme.
Among the 15 young scientists selected from 11 countries, Kashyap’s recognition underscores her significant contributions to the field of rhino conservation. Her work, focused on the utilization of geospatial data, is being carried out in the Manas National Park, a key area for wildlife conservation in India.
